           You might not be really interested in this Astrology subject or may be you do but do not believe it at all. Yes, as we all agree, no one can predict future to the finest detail. However, when looking at it from a different point of view, there were days when even forecasting weather wasn't even thinkable. However, science and technology has come a long way and we are now able to forecast weather with the help of artificial satellites. It might be suprising for most of you, if I say that there are people who can look at the sky and even when there is no trace of any heavy cloud, can tell that it will rain and it does. Interesting facts like fish frantically moving in the water was attibuted to impending earthquakes in ancient times and with aquariums it was possible to know that a disaster was going to strike. Of course, we now take it the other way around saying, if there is an earthquake fish are not stable but it was a method sometime back to predict them.

          So, my point is that this whole Astrology concept is based on something, may be science or may be just belief.  There might have been ways in our ancient history to predict influence of vaious factors on human and earth's life. So, out of curiosity, let's just take it upon its face value. We need not actually believe in it but it is good to know about it though.

            Indian astrology is also called as the 'Vedic Astrology' and is more often referred to as the Hindu Astrology. In Sanskrit, jyotiṣa means Astrology and is called as the Science of Jyotishya.

             'Kundli' is another term you will come across in this context and it means a 'horoscope chart'. A typical Indian horoscope will take into consideration the position of various planets and stars at the time of your birth. These positions determine the cosmic influence you are under, through out your life, which actually is the basis of Vedic/Indian/Hindu Astrology. Conceptually, based on some scriptures, it is said that since man is made of elements of the earth, the cosmic objects like planets, satellites, stars etc, their position and distance from earth exert varied influence on each individual. I don't know if it is entirely true but you can find a lot of good information from the sites listed above. If you know your exact time of birth, consider yourself lucky and try looking up your horoscope. It surely will be closer than the sun sign and you might find some interesting facts about your personality or about how it is supposed to be based on this science.
