File Sharing Online:

What's the big deal with file sharing? Can't you just send it via email/an IM like AOL/Yahoo/GTalk?. The answer would be 'Yes and No' based on the size of the file and the duration for which you want to share the file. If you had ever needed to share a 200 MB file online or tried to have an online store for files you always wanted to have at hand, you would exactly understand what this section is about. And here, you are about to find out the source for your online file storage/sharing/syncing needs. And by the way, Photo Sharing is covered here.

As far as my experience goes, when I had to share that one off file (200 MB), I used to keep hunting around atleast half an hour to find a service that can accept a file of 200MB in size. And after employing atleast 3 services, installing all the junk they come with, I end up sharing the file but only to uninstall it later after finding that it isn't the ideal service I would stick with. And as the file size varied, so did my host, for which I spend more time again hunting around than actually sharing the file.

And during that 'mind boggling googling' and 'hands on' experiences, I ended up with quite a few good places where files can be stored/shared. Some of them needed both users be registered, some provided a special key for the receiver and some needed the receiver to wait for a certain time or needed him to download the files in pieces for joining later. So, you basically need to know the options and make a choice. And when you throw in the feature of having your files synchronized/backing them up online, you need a pretty good solution to address all the needs and the services listed below might just give you that.
